How to Meet Your Veggie Goal

If you find it difficult to meet your veggie quota for the day, not only will this help you exceed it, but it is packed with antioxidants, polyphenols, fiber and protein that will have your gut microbiota jumping to attention! Can you count up all the vegetables in this healthful drink???

 

Nitro V8+ Smoothie

A high powered nitrogen (oxygen boosting) drink worthy for workouts or as a morning riser! Anti-oxidant, vitamin, minerals, chlorophyll, fibre and healthy fats with vegetable protein form a great way to start the day or fuel up before a workout.

Requires a high speed blender. (VitaMix, BlendTec etc..)

Prep: 10 minutes

Servings: 2


Ingredients:

  • handful of kale (baby or regular)

  • handful of micro greens (broccoli, sunflower, pea shoots etc)

  • 2 tbsp of fresh parsley

  • 1/4 of one medium red beet, cleaned

  • 1/4 of a cucumber

  • 1 carrot, cleaned

  • 1 celery stick

  • 1 green onion, cleaned

  • 1/2 of an avocado

  • 1/2 an apple, granny smith

  • 2.5 cm of fresh ginger root, peeled

  • 1/4 of a lime, peeled

  • 1 cup of coconutwater/spring water

  • 2 tbsp of hemp seeds, optional

  • ice, optional

Preparation:

  • place all ingredients in order listed and blend on high till well blended!

  • optional addition to bump up the veggie count: 1/4 of a bell red pepper
